Brisbane’s engineer-grade plastic fabricator. Custom tanks, pipework and process components for blue-chip industrial clients across Australia, since 1971.
Industrial Plastics is a Brisbane-based custom plastic fabricator established in 1971. We design and build engineer-specified tanks, pipework and process components in HDPE, polypropylene, PVDF, PVC and engineering plastics for industrial clients across mining, water treatment, food processing, energy, marine and civil construction.
We are ISO 9001:2015 certified by SGS, with welders qualified to the German DVS 2207 standard, significantly more stringent than minimum AS/NZS requirements. Our production facility is set up for medium-to-large fabrications. We don’t take on small bench-scale work.
Our story
Industrial Plastics has been fabricating plastics in Brisbane since 1971. The factory has moved several times as the work has scaled, from local commercial repairs and signage in the 1970s, to industrial process equipment in the 1980s and 90s, to the engineer-specified tank, pipework and fabrication work that now anchors the business.
What hasn’t changed is the focus on precision plastics fabrication for industrial clients who can’t afford failure in service. Our work goes into mining processing plants, water treatment plants, food production lines, energy assets, marina infrastructure and civil works, environments where a tank failure, a weld leak or a corroded fitting takes equipment out of service and costs the operator real money.
That’s the lens we apply to every project. Material grade matched to the chemistry. Wall thickness calculated for the load. Welds traceable to a qualified welder. Documented inspection. The boring, unglamorous engineering discipline that means the part still works ten or twenty years after it left our workshop.
Why engineers specify Industrial Plastics
ISO 9001:2015, certified by SGS
We are certified to ISO 9001:2015 by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification body. Our quality management system is documented across design, material selection, fabrication, weld qualification, inspection and dispatch. Every project is traceable from drawing to delivered part.
DVS 2205 (tank design) and DVS 2207 (welding) qualified welders
DVS 2207 is the German plastics welding standard. It is significantly more stringent than the minimum requirements of AS/NZS standards: tighter weld procedure tolerances, harder welder qualification testing, and stricter on-the-job revalidation. Each of our welders is individually qualified, and each weld is traceable back to the welder who made it.
When you specify a tank or pipework system that has to handle aggressive chemicals or hold pressure for decades, the weld is the failure point that matters. DVS 2207 is the standard the European industrial plastics market has agreed sets the bar high enough.
Australian and international standards
- DVS 2205, German thermoplastic tank design (static calculations, wall thickness, chemical resistance)
- DVS 2207, German plastic welding (welder qualification, weld procedures, weld testing)
- AS/NZS 4766, polyethylene storage tanks for water and chemicals
- AS/NZS 4020, products in contact with drinking water
- AS/NZS 4129 / 4130 / 4131, polyethylene pipe and fittings
- AS/NZS 4929, abrasion-resistant PE for slurry and ore handling
- FSANZ Standard 1.4.3, food-contact applications
- AS 1940, bunding and ventilation where flammable adjacency applies

Sectors we serve
We fabricate for mining, water treatment, food processing, energy, marine and civil and landscaping. Each industry page sets out the scope we deliver, the standards that apply and named project examples. For the full list, see Industries we serve.
The workshop
Our Hemmant facility is purpose-built for medium-to-large plastics fabrication. The shop is set up for full-pallet and oversize work, saws, CNC routers, butt-fusion machines for HDPE pipe up to 630 mm OD, electrofusion and hot-gas welding stations, sheet bending and thermoforming, fabrication bays for tanks up to truck-loadable size.
Receiving and dispatch handles crated, palletised and oversize loads. Most projects are dispatched Australia-wide directly from our Hemmant yard. On-site work, installation, commissioning, complex measure-up, is by arrangement on confirmed projects.

The team
The work is done by qualified plastics fabricators and DVS 2207 certified welders, supported by a technical sales team that reads engineering drawings and turns specs into proposals. We run an active apprenticeship program, most of our senior tradesmen started here as apprentices and are still here.
Continuity matters in this trade. The welder who built your tank in 2008 is probably still welding here. That makes warranty work, retrofits and repeat fabrications easy.
Why this positioning matters
Bench-scale plastic fabrication is a commodity in Australia. Engineer-grade industrial fabrication isn’t. The difference is what happens when something fails: a 200 L water-feature liner failing is an inconvenience; a 30,000 L caustic dosing tank failing is a plant shutdown, an EPA notification, and an insurance claim.
Our customers, process engineers, project engineers at EPCs, procurement teams at blue-chip resource and utility companies, specify Industrial Plastics because they need the part to keep working. ISO 9001 and DVS 2207 aren’t certifications for marketing brochures; they are the documented quality system and the welder qualification regime that mean we can stand behind a tank that has to hold sodium hypochlorite at 12.5% concentration for fifteen years.

Why Industrial Plastics
Industrial Plastics has fabricated engineered thermoplastics from its Brisbane workshop since 1971. Every job runs under an SGS audited ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with welding by DVS 2207 qualified welders and per weld traceability, standards that sit above the AS/NZS minimums. Process and project engineers review every enquiry, and every delivery carries its documentation: material certificates, weld records, inspection and test plans, and as built drawings.
The workshop at Hemmant covers 2,000 square metres with hardstand for full volume hydro testing. Local, national and international shipping is available.
