Food-grade HDPE, built for commercial kitchens

Our boards are cut from virgin, food-grade HDPE, the material commercial kitchens rely on. HDPE is non-porous, so it does not absorb moisture, blood, oils or odours and will not harbour bacteria. It is hard-wearing yet gentle on knife edges, dishwasher safe, and easy to sanitise. Unlike timber, it will not crack, splinter or warp in a wash-down environment.

Cut to any size and thickness

Because we cut every board to order, you are not limited to off-the-shelf sizes. Order a board to fit your bench, your sink insert, your Gastronorm tray or your slicer, to your exact length and width.

Thickness options: 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mm. Thinner boards (10 to 12 mm) for light prep and bakery, 15 to 20 mm for everyday commercial use, and 25 to 30 mm for butchery and heavy processing. Boards are supplied in natural white food-grade HDPE.

Made for your industry

  • Commercial kitchens, restaurants and cafes, durable prep boards for daily service.
  • Butchers and meat retail, heavy-duty boards and thick blocks that take a cleaver.
  • Seafood and fish processing, dedicated boards that resist odour and moisture.
  • Food manufacturing and processing, boards and cut-to-size sheet sized to your equipment.
  • Caterers, QSR, hotels, aged care, hospitals and schools, hygienic, easy-clean boards for high-volume kitchens.
  • Marine and outdoor, galley and bait boards that handle a wash-down.

HDPE versus timber and bamboo

Timber and bamboo look the part but absorb moisture, can harbour bacteria in cuts, and are not dishwasher safe, which is why most food authorities favour non-porous plastic for raw-food preparation. Food-grade HDPE is non-porous, dishwasher safe and easy to sanitise, while still being kind to knife edges. For a commercial kitchen that has to pass an audit, HDPE is the practical choice.

Food safety and compliance

Australian standards

  • Food Standards Code Standard 3.2.3 (Food Premises and Equipment), food contact surfaces and equipment must be fit for purpose and able to be effectively cleaned and sanitised.
  • Standard 3.2.2 (Food Safety Practices and General Requirements), cross-contamination control.
  • AS 2070, Plastics materials for food contact use; the standard for the HDPE itself.
  • AS 4674, Design, construction and fit-out of food premises; smooth, impervious, easily cleaned food contact surfaces.
  • Boards can be specified to meet HACCP Australia food-safe equipment certification. Material information supplied on request for your food safety program.

Caring for your board

Wash after each use and sanitise as your food safety plan requires. HDPE is dishwasher safe; avoid sustained high heat or leaving a board against a hot surface, as the material softens at high temperatures. Replace any board once the surface is deeply scored, because knife grooves are where bacteria hide.
