Learn DVS 2207 welding under qualified tradesmen. Brisbane workshop, since 1971.
Plastics Fabricator apprenticeship at Industrial Plastics, Brisbane.
Industrial Plastics is a specialist Brisbane manufacturer of custom plastic tanks, pipework and process components. Founded in 1971, we deliver engineer-specified work for blue-chip industrial clients across Australia — including Rio Tinto, BHP, Veolia, Goodman Fielder and Origin Energy. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified by SGS, with welders qualified to the German DVS 2207 standard.
What you’ll learn
- Plastic welding to DVS 2207 — butt-fusion, electrofusion, hot-gas hand and extrusion welding
- Reading engineering drawings, P&IDs and tank fabrication specifications
- Material selection — HDPE, polypropylene, PVC, PVDF, acrylic, engineering plastics
- CNC routing, sawing, brake-forming and thermoforming techniques
- Fabrication of custom tanks, pipework, ducting, scrubbers and process equipment
- Quality systems and inspection under ISO 9001:2015
Who we’re looking for
- Practical, hands-on attitude — you enjoy working with your hands and care about quality
- Attention to detail — our work goes into mining, water treatment and food processing plants where defects aren’t acceptable
- Reliability — turn up on time, every day, and finish what you start
- Australian work rights and the ability to commute to Hemmant, eastern Brisbane
- Year 12 or equivalent preferred but not essential. Mechanical or trade aptitude is more important than qualifications
What we offer
- Formal Certificate III training through a recognised RTO, fees supported by the company
- On-the-job training under DVS 2207 qualified welders and senior fabricators
- Award-rate apprentice wages, with steady progression as you complete each year
- A trade with strong demand — plastics fabrication is critical to mining, water treatment, food processing and energy in Australia
- Long-term career opportunity — many of our senior tradesmen started as apprentices here
