We have recently fabricated an AdBlue storage tank for a mining vehicle using High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) which was used as a replacement for the former metal version.
Why did we produce an HDPE Adblue tank?
A mining company has reached out looking for a solution to upgrade a metal tank that sat on the back of a mining truck. The purpose of the tank is to store and transport a diesel exhaust fluid used in various types of vehicles. This additive is commercially called AdBlue. While traditionally formulated diesel is known to produce air pollutants, AdBlue burns at very high temperatures to break down harmful gasses and reduce emissions.
This project required a material with high chemical and impact resistance. For that reason, it was a unanimous decision to fabricate the AdBlue tank from HDPE, as this material is not only highly resistant and strong but also lightweight, which is extremely convenient for such applications. Moreover, HDPE is immune to rotting and rusting, as opposed to its metal counterpart.
