Qualified plastics fabrication tradesperson, permanent role at our Hemmant workshop.

The role

Industrial Plastics is hiring a qualified Plastic Fabricator for our Brisbane workshop. The work is engineer-specified custom plastic fabrication for blue-chip industrial clients across mining, water treatment, food processing, energy, marine and civil construction, including Rio Tinto, BHP, Veolia, Goodman Fielder and Origin Energy.

This is a permanent, full-time role for a tradesperson who already holds a plastics-fabrication qualification (or equivalent welding/fabrication background) and wants to work in a quality-led shop where the parts you build go into critical industrial service.

What you will do

  • Plastics welding to DVS 2207, butt-fusion (HDPE pipe to 630 mm OD), sheet butt-fusion (4 m capacity), electrofusion, hot-gas / extrusion, hot-plate and IR welding.
  • Reading engineering drawings, P&IDs and tank fabrication specifications.
  • Fabricating custom tanks, pipework, ducting, scrubbers and process equipment in HDPE, PP, PVC, PVDF and engineering plastics.
  • Working with our CNC routing, sawing, brake-forming and thermoforming setups.
  • Inspection, hydro / pneumatic / vacuum-box testing, as-built documentation under our ISO 9001 quality system.

What we look for

  • Plastics-fabrication qualification, or equivalent welding/fabrication trade background. DVS 2207 ticket highly regarded; we will support requalification for the right candidate.
  • Solid drawing-reading and dimensional check capability.
  • Quality-led mindset, our work goes into critical service; defects aren’t acceptable.
  • Reliable, on-time, finishes what they start.
  • Australian work rights and the ability to commute to Hemmant, eastern Brisbane.

What we offer

  • Award-rate or above pay (negotiable on experience and qualifications).
  • Permanent full-time position, day shift, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm AEST.
  • Modern 2,000 m² Hemmant workshop with overhead crane and full plastics-fabrication kit (4 m butt welder, 3 m CNC, 50 mm sheet capacity, butt-fusion to 630 mm OD).
  • Work alongside long-tenured DVS 2207 qualified tradesmen on engineer-specified projects for blue-chip industrial clients.
  • Long-term career progression, many of our senior tradesmen have been here 10, 20 or more years.
