Silt Fencing is the latest product to be added to Industrial Plastics’ line. A silt fence is a temporary sediment control device used on construction sites to protect water quality in nearby streams, rivers, lakes and seas from sediment in storm water runoff. It is imperative that you protect your worksite because failure to implement appropriate erosion and sediment control measures can result in fines up to $13,785. Our high quality silt fence will be made from 100% synthetic, UV treated woven virgin polypropylene.

How to install Silt Fencing?
- Dig a trench – Dig a trench line six inches deep and four inches wide around the area you identified as needing protection.
- Install wooden stakes – On the down-hill side of the trench, plant wooden stakes into the ground between 1 to 1.5 meters apart, ensuring they’re buried at least 15cm into the ground.
- Staple the silt fence – Run the Silt Fence along the inner side of the wooden stakes. Ensure the fabric is pulled as tight as possible as you staple the silt fence to the stakes. Use a staple gun with heavy-duty staples and make sure you use at least three staples per stake
- Backfill the trench – Finally, fill the trench with the soil you originally dug out. As a rule of thumb, use more than you think is necessary as it will settle over time.
